Schedule
Students are allowed to be on campus as early as 7:30 in the morning to eat breakfast in the cafeteria. When students arrive to school before 7:55, they will wait quietly in the cafeteria where a teacher is on duty. At 7:55, students may enter the classroom quietly and put their agendas, backpacks and other materials away. If your child arrives late (after 7:55), please direct them to the office for a tardy slip. It's very important that your child is not late to school. Also, parents please leave enough time for your child to eat breakfast before class begins. Students need enough time to wait in line to receive their breakfast as well as have enough time to eat.

Homework Policy

Homework is ...
Any class work not finished during the school day or an extension of concepts learned in class. This is an opportunity for students to reinforce the skills we are working on in class. Homework must be completed and turned in the following day unless stated otherwise, in addition to any additional homework assignments.
Why do Kindergarten students have homework?
I believe students thrive on positive recognition and praise. We work hard to create an environment of friendship and respect. Students learn that life is about choices and they are expected to make a good choice with their actions.
The year will begin with clear expectations and they will know what is expected in our classroom. An effective classroom teaches each child personal responsibility. Our class rules focus on the positive side of discipline by providing lots of praise, encouragement, positive reinforcement, and rewards while incorporating natural and logical consequences.
As a class, we have selected four basic rules that will help us have a productive place to learn.
1. Always be a friend. Students are expected to be kind to others. Negative remarks, name calling, hurtful gestures or behavior, or the destruction of individual or school property will not be tolerated.
2. Follow directions. Students should listen or read directions, and ask for help for additional clarification. Students are responsible for completing tasks correctly.
3. Listen carefully. Listening carefully means to pay close attention to the speaker who may be the teacher, a guest speaker or a peer.
4. Work quietly. There are times when we will be working in groups or together as a class and then there will be independent work times. Please do not disturb others who are working during quiet time.
Volunteers are always welcome in our classroom!! If you would like to help out, please just let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Some of the activities you can do as a volunteer include:
Classroom Assistant- In the classroom you may lend a hand by copying and sorting papers, assisting with special projects, or help prepare for a special event.
Helping From Home- At home you could help by cutting, pasting, or typing projects we are working on.
